Children’s Centre Head Teacher

Our key aim is to enable families within our local community to access the wide range of services we offer in order to better the lives of children growing up around us.

We want to raise the aspirations and attainment of young people and families by encouraging them to learn new things and to seek the expertise and resources of our health staff at the sessions which are run.

Lauren Gallagher
Children Centre Manager

Welcome to Davies Lane Children’s Centre.  Here at Davies Lane we welcome families from every corner of the local community and hope that through the services and groups that we run, children will be able to grow into happy, healthy and confident individuals.

Our advisory board is made up of a variety of people from within the school and local community so that we can continuously come together to look at ways in which we can improve our core offer for the wellbeing of those accessing our services. We also strive to find ways to encourage those families who may not know how to access or do not feel comfortable in doing so to ensure that all children are giving the same opportunities.

Please do not hesitate to contact the centre if you have any questions or comments.  I hope you find our website helpful.

Michael Russell
Chair of Governing Body, Children Centre Advisory Board

My name is Michael Russell and I am the Chair of Governing Body’s Children Centre Advisory Board. I would like to welcome you to this website outlining all the facilities and services available for children 0-5 years, their families and the local community.

The full Governing Body meets every term with additional committees to consider standards and curriculum, the Children Centre and resources, physical and human. We have 5 elected parent governors, 3 nominated community governors, 3 Local Authority governors and 3 members of staff.

The governors support the strategic development of the school and children's centre. The names of our governors are available from the office.

'Our advisory board is made up of a variety of people from within the school and local community so that we can continuously come together to look at ways in which we can improve our core offer for the wellbeing of those accessing our services...'

Lesley Pikesley
Community Governor and school volunteer

I was very pleased to be invited to join the Advisory board.
I feel that as a long standing member of the Leytonstone community I should get involved with such projects, especially as I am retired and consequently have time to spare.

I sincerely love being 'a friend' of the school and hope to expand that role to include the Children Centre. I think my wealth of local accumulated knowledge may be useful.

Margaret Skeete
Staff Governor

Hello and welcome to Davies Lane.  As a staff governor and resident of Leytonstone I am fully aware of the challenges many families face within this community.

Our centre hopes to enable families to be the best that they can be by providing opportunities in training, sessions with health professionals, adult education classes and above all a welcoming environment.

All of my children have attended Davies Lane Primary School and have long been encouraged to aim high and with the addition of the children’s centre I believe younger generations will be able to do the same for many more years to come.
