World Book Day 2013?

worldBookDay2013PicWorld Book Day next year will be on March 7th, 2013.

Now is the time for nurseries and primary schools to register their interest in taking part in this great literacy event for children. Eight more great books will be available for only £1 each.

The World Book Day web site has some great resources available for children, schools and parents and carers. You can download resources now from this World Book Day web page here.

Once registered more materials are available to support learning – look out for the ‘sign-up’ link on the resources page – use them in the classroom, at home, or in your library.

You can see the books selected for next year’s event here…and there will be some great events and activities taking place too!

2012 Festival of Sport

boxingPicThe FREE 2012 Festival of Sport promises to be an exhilarating weekend of sport for all the family.

You’ll be able to watch the action from the 2012 Games live on our giant screens whilst chatting to sporting professionals and local sports clubs about how to improve your game and watching sport demonstrations.

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August 2012, 11am-7pm

SummerDaze 2012 is here…

summerDaze2012pic-mA new edition of Summer Daze for 2012 is now available online from the Borough. Packed full of holiday activities, this Olympic Special Edition also features over 50 schools open for fun in the summer of 2012.

You can read about how children can take part in the Going for Gold Challenge, as part of the Schools Open for Summer programme in Waltham Forest.

As well as a directory of activities by age group, there is also a great section on gettting around during The Olympics.
